KEY LESSON 40 MINUTES
TEACHING OUTLINE: THE CHARACTER OF LOVE
“What does love mean to you?”
“Today we’ll learn that love is not just a feeling — it’s the very
nature of God in us. When you walk in love, you reveal the character of Christ.”
Illustration:
A child who forgives a friend who broke their toy shows love that comes from God, not just kindness.

Core Scriptures (12 Verses – NKJV) THE CHARACTER OF LOVE

3. John 13:34‑35 (KJV) – A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you… By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples.
4. Ephesians 5:1‑2 (KJV) – Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; and walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us.
5. Colossians 3:14 (KJV) – And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
6. 1 Corinthians 13:4‑7 (AMPC) – Love endures long and is patient and kind… Love bears up under anything and everything that comes.
7. Galatians 5:22‑23 (KJV) – But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance.
8. 1 John 3:18 (KJV) – My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
9. 1 Peter 4:8 (KJV) – Above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.

11. Romans 13:10 (KJV) – Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

Recall from Previous Lesson: Review “Keep Yourself Healthy – Nutrition & Health.”
“How does being healthy help you love others?” (Answer: When you’re strong and joyful, you can serve others better.)
Love is the very essence of God’s nature. The Bible declares, “He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love” (1 John 4:8). This profound truth means that love is not simply one of God’s attributes but His very identity. To walk in love is to express God Himself. For generations, people could only imagine what divine love looked like, because no one had seen God. But then Jesus came, and He revealed the Father in human form. He said, “He that hath seen me hath seen the Father” (John 14:9). Jesus was love made flesh, the perfect description of God’s love in action.

Romans 5:5 declares, “The love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost.” This means every child of God already has love within them. We don’t need to pray for love to come; instead, we allow it to flow out of us. Love is the character of the recreated human spirit. It makes us gracious, kind, forgiving, and patient. Love forgives easily, keeps no record of wrongs, and sees others through the eyes of mercy and compassion. Choosing to love is choosing to walk in victory.

Furthermore, love is the foundation of Christian character. Every virtue—patience, kindness, humility—springs from love. Without love, character is incomplete. Pastor Chris emphasizes that the measure of your spiritual growth is the measure of your love. Mature Christians walk in love consistently, because love never fails (1 Corinthians 13:8). Love is not a fleeting emotion but a deliberate decision to act like God, to reveal His nature in every situation.

Ultimately, love is the highest calling of the believer. It is the proof of our faith, the evidence of God’s presence in us, and the key to victorious living. When we walk in love, we manifest the life of Christ and become the visible testimony of God’s love to the world. Love is the true character of the believer, and it is through love that we fulfil God’s dream of showcasing His excellence through the Church.

📝 Summary
God is love, and Jesus showed us exactly what that love looks like when He lived on earth. He healed the sick, forgave people, and gave His life for us. Now, as God’s children, we carry His love inside our hearts through the Holy Spirit. Love
is not just a feeling—it’s choosing to be kind, forgiving, patient, and caring. When we walk in love, we show the world who God is and live the way He wants us to.

 Memory Verse

NEW WORDS USED AND GREEK WORDS USED BY PASTOR CHRIS- 20 MINUTES
Greek Word for the Day –Artios
🗣 Pastor Chris teaches that Artios
The word Artios (Greek: ἄρτιος) means complete, perfect, fully equipped, or ready for use. Pastor Chris teaches that when the Bible says God’s Word makes us “perfect” (2 Timothy 3:17), it uses the word Artios—meaning God’s Word makes us fully prepared and complete for every good work. It’s not about being flawless, but about being spiritually equipped to do what God wants.
🗣 Pastor Chris explains that Artios
Pastor Chris explains that Artios describes a believer who is mature, balanced, and furnished with everything needed to live a victorious life. When you study and act on God’s Word, you become Artios—ready for every challenge, strong in faith,
and able to show God’s excellence in all you do.
