TO THE BIBLE:
1 John 5:11-13 (KJV)“And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”
LET'S TALK
I want you to notice the tenses. He says, “God has given us
eternal life.” Notice the tenses. He didn't say God shall give us, God may give us, God will do it when you pray hard enough, God will do it when you please him. He hasn't said anything else but that God has given us; in other words, he's done it. He says, “And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.”
Period. That is very serious. Doesn't matter that he is your twin brother; if you have eternal life because you have the Son of God and he doesn't have the Son of God, it doesn't matter that you both came from the same mother—one has eternal life and the other doesn't.

God doesn't want you to guess; he doesn't want you to assume that you have it; he wants you to know that you have it. He says, “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.” Wow. I want you to know, an awareness. I want you to be aware. I want you to be aware. Awareness is very important; it's different from specific knowledge, but it
brings it into the commonplace of everyday life. When he says to you, I want you to be aware, now, when you're aware of something , you act accordingly.
